Female Animated Character Base
A downloadable asset pack
This sprite/pixel art human male base was created in early 2010. Although I realized that the walking animation I uploaded was the wrong version... and so the wrong hands were being used... it got really popular on DeviantArt and Pinterest. So just thought I'd fix it and reupload it here for free!
The base is free to use, credit is appreciated.

Indeed. It was made with old school paperdoll systems in mind to try to be as economical to create items of clothing for both male and female at once.

The female base is designed to be able to use the same clothes as a male, so they have the same silhouette.
